This exhibition collates the work of four Tasmanian women photographers, to reveal how they imagine, interpret, and connect with wild places. The photographs are a unique perspective of each artist, an insight into how they see and express their relationship with Tasmanian’s complex and diverse ecosystems and Gaia’s biosphere. The Gaia Hypothesis is an ecological hypothesis proposing that the biosphere and the physical components of the earth are closely integrated to form a complex interacting system that maintains a preferred homeostasis.
This exhibition reaches from the minute forest cosmos to vast wilderness expanses. It intends to create within the viewer, a feeling of the presence of their own place within the Gaia biosphere, to remove any sense of external observer to the natural world. Inviting them to enter into their own relationship with that world.
